Terms of Use

• You must be 18 or older to hold an account.
• One person, one account. Operating more than one to take the same survey twice is fraud, and it ends both accounts and forfeits the balance.
• The details you give must be true. Targeting a survey at people in a particular city or profession only works if people answer those questions honestly, and a researcher is paying for that accuracy.
• You are responsible for what happens under your login. Tell us immediately if you think someone else has it.

You are paid in SURDA for work you complete and that is approved. Here is what that means precisely, because vagueness here costs people money:

• The reward is shown before you start. It does not change once you begin.
• Payment follows approval by the researcher. A response can be rejected for straightlining, contradictory answers, or answers that do not address the question.
• A rejected response can be disputed and is reviewed by validators who are not the researcher.
• You are paid once per survey. Submitting again does not pay again.
• A cash-out is subject to a minimum, which exists because moving small amounts costs more in fees than the payout is worth. The minimum for each method is shown before you choose it.
• We only offer a payout method we can actually settle. A method that cannot pay is withheld rather than offered and then failed.

The answers you give become part of a dataset the commissioning researcher owns, and may be resold on the marketplace in anonymised form. You keep no ownership of the response once it is paid for, and we cannot recall it from a buyer afterwards.

• You fund the reward pool up front. Respondents are paid from that escrow, not from a promise.
• Unspent escrow is refunded to you when a survey closes.
• You may reject a response, with a reason. Rejecting responses in order to avoid paying for work that met the brief is a breach of these terms.
• You own the dataset your survey produces and may list it on the marketplace.
• You may not use Surdatics to collect data you intend to use for a purpose you concealed from respondents.

Your obligations to respondents. You are the data controller for the responses you commission. You must have a lawful purpose, you must not ask for more personal data than that purpose needs, and you must not ask respondents to identify themselves in free text in order to route around our anonymisation.

The marketplace carries two different things, and they are labelled distinctly because the difference matters to a buyer:

• Collected on Surdatics — gathered through this platform, from consenting respondents who were paid, with a provenance record showing what was asked and what was paid.
• Brought by the seller — research data collected elsewhere and listed here. We verify what we can and disclose what we cannot. The seller warrants its lawful origin; we did not witness its collection.

If you sell: you warrant that you hold the rights to the data, that it was collected lawfully and with consent, that it is not scraped, and that it contains no direct identifiers. You indemnify us against claims arising from a breach of that warranty. We take a commission on each sale, shown before you list.

If you buy: you may not attempt to re-identify any individual, and you may not resell the dataset as your own collection. Access ends immediately if you do.

A listing is not accepted just because someone pressed a button. Every dataset passes automated due diligence first:

• Direct identifiers — names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, wallet addresses — are scanned for across every field, including free text, and a dataset containing them is refused.
• The stated origin is checked against what we hold. A dataset claiming Surdatics collection is verified against real responses and their provenance records.
• Small datasets are flagged, because a handful of rows with rich demographics identifies people however the columns are labelled.
• The seller must affirm lawful origin and consent explicitly, and that affirmation is recorded against their account.

Passing these checks is not a warranty by us that a seller-supplied dataset is lawful. It means it cleared the checks a platform can perform. The seller carries the rest, and buyers are told which category they are buying.

• Use more than one account, or answer a survey more than once.
• Answer without reading — straightlining, random answers, or automated submissions.
• Upload scraped data, or data you do not hold the rights to.
• Attempt to re-identify individuals in any dataset.
• Collect data for a purpose you hid from respondents.
• Probe, scan or attack the platform, other than under a security disclosure arrangement agreed with us in writing.
• Resell platform access, or use the API to build a competing index of our respondents.

• SURDA is the unit of account on the platform. Its rate against the dollar is shown wherever a conversion is made.
• Researchers fund in fiat or stablecoin. Respondents are paid in SURDA and may cash out to the methods available to them.
• We take a commission on survey rewards and on dataset sales. Both are shown before you commit.
• A payout can be reversed if the work it paid for is found to be fraudulent.
• Fees charged by a bank or a blockchain are not ours and are not refundable by us.

We provide Surdatics as it is. We do not warrant that a survey will reach a particular number of people, that a dataset will suit your purpose, or that the service will be uninterrupted.

Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else the law does not permit us to limit. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

You can close your account at any time. Any balance above the cash-out minimum can be withdrawn first; below it, we will tell you plainly rather than leave you guessing.

We may suspend an account for fraud, for a breach of these terms, or where required by law. Where we do, we say why, and you can dispute it.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, this does not deprive you of the protection of your own country's mandatory consumer law.
